Jaeger-LeCoultre Mark XI RAAF Issued
Size: 35mm
Year: 1950s
Movement: Manual
RESERVED
A proper Jaeger-LeCoultre military issue watch supplied to the Royal Australian Air Force, engraved “G6B/346 RAAF 508/53” to the caseback, dating this example to 1953.
Part of the broader Mark XI specification watches produced for the British Commonwealth, with Jaeger-LeCoultre supplying movements during the period alongside other manufacturers. Built as a navigation tool, these watches feature hacking seconds for precise time setting. The watch also does not have fixed spring bars so strap options are not limited to a nato.
Classic military configuration with a black dial, Arabic numerals and radium lume, now aged to a soft, even patina. The watch retains its original Flat plexi crystal, and the hacking function is still present and operating.
Powered by a manually wound Jaeger-LeCoultre movement specific to this watch distinguished by the broad arrow, housed in a stainless steel case showing honest service wear throughout.
